Baby backs with slow and sear
« on: November 01, 2020, 01:40:16 PM »
Haven't cooked on the blue gen2 since the Summit arriving or had baby backs since my first cook on the Summit. So this cook is overdue.
2 slabs of baby backs rubbed with Spiceology's Smoky honey habanero,  cooked with a Slow n sear full of western lump with cherry and apple chunks for smoke.
2.5 hrs in, just pulled them, wrapped in foil with some honey and put back on.

Thanks for looking.

Great looking cook! But, why is it posted in the off topic section?

Thanks Darko.
I think it ended up there because I forgot to choose a topic.[emoji2357]
Maybe a mod can fix it for me.

Those look fantastic. Did you make the sauce or is it store bought. I tried making it once based off a video of his and I didn’t care for it.  Maybe I did something wrong. Who knows.

I’ve done the Franklin sauce.  It’s got some tang to it.    Kinda thin.  Sort of a western Carolina sauce.

I’m referring to the one in his Franklin Barbeque book.

The Franklin sauce was from a bottle. It was sent to me as a birthday gift from my sister who lives in Texas.

I’m sure I would like the bottled stuff better.

I used his recipe that starts off with butter and onions. I thought it was just plain weird.  The recipe in this video

Just a little added insurance against burning the tips closest to the coals. Not sure if it helps or not.
