@MrHoss just hit me up on facebook and informed me of a post his wife did on his facebook page.

"T0 all the people I visit and friends far an near  this is Carolyn Hill  Ken's  wife
...  my husband  passed away on the 17th of  September  2020."

@1buckie  You were an inspiration to so many especially during the early years of the WKC

I am not a collector, but I do have a small collection.

RIP Ken. Very inspirational to me personally. His posts and cooks on kettles were one of a kind.  Would have loved to have met him.

Yup. Sad news indeed my friend.....I really hated reading that. I learned more about bbq from that duder than any other single individual. And it was only via reading his posts here and at the bbq bretheren. Holy crap that man knew a lot.....probably as much as any 10 normal humans.....maybe more as many folks are flat out stupid. I knew Ken on facebook as well and he was a true individual......he knew members of the Grateful Dead and headed up their fan newpaper for years. His sense of humour was very sharp and sardonic. Gonna miss the old duder I am. Do yourselves a huge favour and look up some of his posts and use one or two his recipies and techniques.....the brick on top of the cooking grate to deflect heat and allowing proper air flow..........damn the man was a genius people.

"Why do you have so many bbq's?"....."I just like lookin' at em' sometimes....and I have enough purses and shoes"

I only chatted with him a few times via email.  I've learned a few things and will be learning more from his posts.  RIP Ken.

RIP @1buckie. We were lucky to have known you and learned from you. It didn't seem that long ago when we were ogling the first known Westerner on WKC, cooking turds, and eating watermelon cake. We'll miss you

Sad news indeed.
I never met Ken in person, but I loved seeing his cooks on here. I was just explaining to a friend Friday how to build a snake and told him beef burns clockwise and pork counterclockwise. He asked why, I told him because Buckie says so. That's all you need to know.

Buckie was an inspiration to me.  Very kind and always helpful.  he made a lasting impression on my life and I've only known him through the WKC.  He has fed groups of over 100 on multiple 22" kettles.  The man had skills.  I have one of his recipes saved that I use frequently.  I hope one day to be an inspiration like he is.  RIP my friend.

SAD

Turds, Yes!

To this day I still make his sausage w/ BBQ sauce he used to pass around at the meetups

His use of the original Weber wok kept me on my toes using mine.

Thanks buckie
