I have a digital thermometer for the meat itself but I want to install an analog thermometer for kettle temp for smoking. Ive seen photos here with it just below the vent. I guess above the hook. Is that the right place and why?Any advice?Sent from my iPhone using Weber Kettle Club

You want to try to get as close to grate temps as possible and for low n slow you want the coals opposite the vent, food and thermometer. Got mine on Amazon; its a river country 3 inch. Also did some 2 inch thermometers on a SJ and JJ.Sent from my iPhone using Weber Kettle Club
