Sunday dinner - pic heavy
« on: July 12, 2020, 03:49:49 PM »
If I have time on the weekend, I like to challenge myself to cook an entire meal on a Weber.   Well, multiple Webers actually.

My Meijer has bone in t bone pork chops for $2 a pound, so I got a biggin cut for me custom.  [emoji241][emoji241].  Shrimp [emoji494] too.

Sirloin for my son.  Strip steak well done for my wife [emoji849]....I know.   I love her.   Proteins on the P code blue.  Potatoes and an onion stuffed with butter and beef base on the lime 18.  Squash and peppers on the genesis.  Dessert back on the lime. Bananas stuffed with Hershey chocolate and mini marshmallows.

***
I did cheat and finish the onion topped with mozzarella and browned with the broiler.  Comes out like French onion soup.  ***

Very fun cook, well done!  I’ve never skewered shrimp like that, but never thought to.  Creative desert!

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Great color on those chops!  So that’s the onions in the cast iron?

Use a large sweet onion.  Use a tsp or so of beef base and dollop of butter.    Wrap in foil.   Cook indirect for 40 mins or so.   Unwrap when done.  Shred.  Should be tender.   I put in cast iron and cover with mozzarella.   Can add a splash of beef broth.  Broil till brown.  Yum.

Thanks. I keep meaning to make this. I’ve seen you post about the onions before but haven’t seen the cast iron and broiler trick. Very cool.

Wow, that all looks so good! I love the idea of desert on the grill.
