Kettle Steel Handle Removal Process

I am in the process of building a BBQ cart and want to inset a kettle into it on the one side. I bought the stainless steel brackets on line but want to know from someone who has done it before, how to permanently remove the bowl handle so I can mount the brackets?

I recall @Jules V. removes his bowl handles by drilling out the welds from the inside of the bowl and covering the holes with washers.  You may want to look back through his awesome mods.

I think a cutoff wheel could work provided it didn’t cause too much collateral damage to bowl in the process.

Cutoff wheel works but you have to be very precise to get it close enough. Problem is one slip and you have
scarred your bowl. Don't ask me how I know this though. The drill and washer route sound interesting will have
to check this out for my next project.

Unless the brackets cover where the handles were, I would just cut the protruding pieces off and leave the welded tabs there. Barely noticeable less potential damage to the bowl.

bthorn9435 is right... using a grinder that close to the bowl is scary.  But I was successful the only time I ever tried it.  Didn't have the patience for Dremel cut-off wheeling it.

I used a Dremel cut off wheel just two days ago for this very thing. Took me less than a minute for each side.
