I have an old one, and it came with a clamp that's on a wheel leg. The screw on the clamp is longer and the slot on the support drops onto that screw, held in place w/ a nut.

Left or right is your preference.

I have one I got last year. I haven't used it as a cutting board, just as a table.

If you want to protect it then consider Mineral oil or some other product intended to protect wood cutting surfaces. I don't think veg oil is what you want to use.

Should I season with veg oil?

General consensus is that veg oil is not the conditioner of choice of cutting boards etc.  "Safe for food-contact surfaces" mineral oil is what you are after, but its hard to come by (don't just grab the stuff in the paint isle!).

Lee Valley has a number of safe for food-contact surfaces wood treatments under their Tried & True™ Traditional Finishes brand.

We've got the Danish Oil, which is basically pure linseed oil, and works very well indeed.

No olive, canola, peanut oil etc to protect wood. They can all go rancid.

Use food safe mineral oil.

Get mineral oil in the drug store or pharmacy dept of any store. Its considered food grade..
Its cheap and won't hurt you. Its meant for internal use.. Works on plastic tables too.  8)
