SnS Original vs 2.0
« on: April 01, 2020, 01:42:04 PM »
I recently  noticed SnS now offers the Original model as well as the 2.0 model. As best I can see the difference is permanent and replaceable water bath, plus an open bottom in the original model. My question is does anyone have suggestions for adding a grate or something to close off the bottom of the original model to slow down the charcoal sifting through too soon.
I can afford the original model but the 2.0 model is just a reach too far. Thanks for any suggestions.

So Adrenaline/SnS did offer a 1.5 version with the permanent water trough and the same bottom of the 2.0. Perfect IMO as I own 2 of them. Search for one of those as they come up every so often.

I have original 1.0 w/o the bottom and the xl with the bottom. If you use briquettes there won’t be extra burn times or if there is it would be almost unnoticeable.

FYI, Amazon currently is selling the "original SnS" for $59.00 free shipping assume this will NOT have too much problem with bricketts sifting through prematurely.

it won’t. That’s the one I have and I’ve had it for years now. It will go for hours with a chimney full of briquettes.

I think without the bottom might actually be better. Often times if I’m just letting it run and don’t shake up the dead ash it gets clogged and temps drop. Not a big deal but if the one without the bottom is $59 I’d get that all day long!

Also, the 2.0 version is riveted together, not welded.

I have the SlowNSear Plus which like the SlowNSear Original has the non-removable water trough in which mine warps when exposed to extreme heat when grilling. You can remove the water trough from the SlowNSear 2.0 when grilling at a higher temperature and also gives you a little more direct grilling space.
