Rescued a patent pending Chief today
« on: March 10, 2020, 05:20:13 PM »
Huge thank you to @WNC who helped me rescue a patent pending Chief from an uncertain fate as a “fire pit”.

It needs legs, wheels and triangle, but overall it survived in great shape along with the original grates.  Not much crazing as I would expect being used as a fire pit and the bowl vents are intact and operable. The bowl was severely out of round, but I was able to slowly bend it back into shape.

I can’t believe this is my 4th 26’er in the stable and I’m excited to get it back into cooking rotation.  If any one has legs, wheels, or a triangle for a vintage 26’er, please let me know.

Again, big thank you to @WNC for the assist.

I won’t lie, the thought has crossed my mind!  Thankfully Jeff and Bertl came through with reproduction ash pans, so that’s not a big deal.  Not sure how or where I’ll source the rest of the lower half, but it’ll cook once again.

Legs are easier, the triangle will be tough
