What is it
« on: February 07, 2020, 02:55:01 AM »
So I’ve been wanting a 26”. Found this on letgo, post claims it’s a 36”. I messaged him to see if he meant 26” but no he says it is a 36. Is it actually anything more than a basic 22” kettle. I’m not up on all the proper terms for different kettle yet but can someone tell me if this is 22” or 26”?

That’s definitely a 22.  Considering that the height of the cook grate is 34”, seller must be measuring height to top of the bowl(?).

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

FYI the 26 in current and vintage versions have four parallel spokes on the triangle.  18 and 22 kettles have only three.

Just a perfect analysis of the situation -- another reason why I value this group so much.

Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

Hey I appreciate it guys! The post did say ‘36” in diameter’. Must have a different tape measure than most [emoji1]

Tell seller to get rid of the fisher price measuring tape, put their glasses on and remeasure

I think some wind up measuring across the handles, so I usually ask them something like: "what is the dimension across from one end of the bowl to the opposite end of the bowl without including the handles?"
One guy have me told me 30 inches, so I explained the different sizes & he came back that it was a 26.  The pic didn't show the triangle & it was a MBH, so I went to look at it.  It was a 22 & he sheepishly said that he was guessing because he didn't have a tape measure.
regards,
Hal

That is the most basic of 22.5 inch kettles. Bottom of the barrel in terms of features, so hopefully it’s priced accordingly.
