Return of Project Tomato, the saga continues
« on: December 10, 2019, 11:41:03 AM »
I picked up the redhead from @Vwbuggin64 over the weekend.  Here is a link to the original find and restore  http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/index.php?topic=27086.  To complete the restore of this pre pp redhead I'm in need of one red handle.  I'm hoping someone out there can help get this across the finish line.  I added the small vents to the bowl and the steel wheel with black triangle.  I gave it a quick bath too.

Those wheels make tomato look amazing! It was awesome meeting you and glad to see tomato is in good hands. She spent 99% of her life with me covered to protect from the sun and elements (ha). Btw, those are actual Weber replacement vents I ordered when I bought her.

I still need to clean it up a bit more and restore the wheels.  Your 64 reminded me of learning to drive stick in my sister's 66 Cal Bug

@Vwbuggin64 .  Update on the Tomato.  I repainted the black triangle and installed a set of restored wheels.  Next up is the handle and lid vent

That's as far as I got with Tomato.  With the slide aside it I never worried about the rear handle.  It will need a new home soon.
