Leg caps or no leg caps? What is your opinion???

In the world of smoking, the cheaper smokers (New Braunfels, Bar B Chef, Brinkmann) have legs caps.  A rule of thumb is not to install the leg caps for the following reason.  If water were to somehow get inside the leg then the cap would trap it and rust out the leg (i.e no place for the water to flow).  I actually saw this happen on a couple New Braunfels I looked at last year.  What do you guys think??

Depends. If you move the kettle around alot in the grass, the end is gonna get clogged up anyway by dirt and grass. If one is really worried about water accumulation, you can drill a small drain hole at the end of the cap or perpendicularly to the pipe near the bottom.

For an iron or steel cooker, I'd have some concern, yeah it could do some real damage......for a Weber, the use of aluminium ( which is an unspoken hero of their design ) negates my worry entirely.....

The metal wheel kettles are an item that needs special care, but water, inside an aluminium leg, where it really almost can't get anyways  (another well thought out design element ) for me, equates to pole vaulting over mouse 'turds.....

Dirty angle......    The only reason I don't like the dirty angle is it digs into my lawn...
