YEP !!!!

It does work.....you can click on the  { IMG } link for each photo, it will flash "copied", then drop in your posting box here ( right click: paste ) & they will show up in living color......

That one looks really, really nice, actually......the one handle is dinged, but other than that there's not many chips & the color is still real vibrant, not weathered or faded very much......nice !!!!!

I'll pull one over for you so these munchkins can get a straight away look at it ....... 8)

CABarrow, while I was moving photos & typing this NINE REPLIES came in.......should give you some idea of at least the historical value......

I did this one with 0000 steel wool, powdered Barkeepers Friend & a little warm water. That should be a great start. Replacement grates are easily found at most hardware and home improvement stores. Please stick with weber replacement grates if the existing can't be salvaged. The knockoffs don't belong anywhere near that big ball of sunshine.  ;D

PS:
We'll get you sorted out on what cleaners are good to use without doing damage....just check in when you'd like to get started & people will direct you to the proper methods ( almost always with pictures to see how it works)

Here's a recent posting with quite a bit about old rusty grates....

http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/saving-grates/

And Brian (Zavod44) from here makes gorgeous replacement wood handles, even for those older double rivet ones......see the main site page  on the right hand side......

EDIT:

Sorry, it's up at the top of the page, about the handles..................
This goes direct ~~~>

Welcome to WKC! You got yourself a steal of a deal! Congratulations! Looks like late 70s.... More than likely 1978 given the lid vent markings. Just out of curiosity is there a letter stamped on the lid vent? I'm thinking there isnt but I'm curious.

That's in very good shape. I have a 18 and a recently acquired 22. The 22 is rough and I paid $25 for it. The 18 cost me $35. I would have a real hard time selling because well I'm the creepy guy down the street with all the webers. If I did it would have to be to some one here bc I know they would appreciate it like I do. On the other hand I can see why some one would get what they can for it. Hey this is America!  Land of great freedoms.

Here's a few pics of mine.

This is the 18 hot!  Like the sun setting.

Enjoy your sunshine. It is a joy to cook on and watch.

Cab, the grill is gorgeous. Congrats on a rare find. I've been on the hunt for a yellow for a couple of years now.

Very nice yellow 22 and thanks for sharing your great find. We look forward to seeing it cook up some great food. By the way, that original grate will clean up. They don't make them like that anymore. Please don't throw it away!

Thanks everyone!  We're going to sell it after all - just got a contract on our house and don't have time to deal w/ cleaning grates, etc.  I'll list later on the Trading Post.
