ISO Correct wheel for a sequoia restore
« on: March 22, 2019, 12:12:04 PM »
I will be restoring my sequoia the Spring and would like to replace the one wheel that is not like the others.  It looks like it was replaced with a lawn mower wheel.  Any help would be appreciated.

Strangely enough, if you take a look at a number of sequoias, you will find there are at least two different types of wheels and at least two different types of hardware.  I have a handle on the door to my furnace room that looks like one version of the hardware (although not on mine, my hardware is like yours).  However, mine has a different set of matching wheels (which I've seen in pics of others).  Also, I have an old 26" that has the identical wheels that my Sequoia has.

In other words, you also might find that some old 26" have wheels that match your Sequoia.  The only problem will be finding someone who happens to have a spare wheel.

Hal

On another note, I swear I saw some sort of non-Weber grill that had wheels that looked like one of the older styles, but I don't remember which style, nor do I remember where I saw it.

If someone has a spare set I'd be interested.

Hah.

Take a look at the pics of the Sequoia in this article http://weberkettleclub.com/grills/weber-performer-history/ from this site.  The hardware & wheels are different from the @1spacemanspiff's.  Also different from the one Harris has.  Mine has the same hardware, but different wheels than @1spacemanspiff's.  The comment about the hardware differing over time has been mentioned in other threads by other people.

@PotsieWeber, must've been one of those vintage Alibaba Webber's. Lol!

i think it's a '71-'72, appears to have similar hardware to those in the older 71-72 catalogs.

I'll keep my eyes open, even for something more similar.
Until you find something, maybe try painting the center black & paint on a whitewall so it doesn't stick out quite so much.

I checked my collection but donít have those wheels.  My Sequoia has different ones than yours too.

@PotsieWeber , that is a great idea!  I'll also switch  the back and front wheels so i have a match set in front
