Used MBH question
« on: September 07, 2018, 12:02:24 PM »
Found a used MBH on FB marketplace the pics are not that great is there anything specific I should be looking for? They are only asking $13 for it so unless it's completely rotted out I guess it will be worth it.

If it still has the twist on ash pan, it alone is worth $13.

Truthfully, at $13, you should try to decipher if some of the parts are in good shape (wheels, grates, & triangle).  Does it have the twist ash pan?   If so, go for it just for the parts.  With any luck, it’ll be decent enough to resurrect.

Obviously looking for a Glen Blue (who isn’t?😂).

Looking for anything Happy Cooker, including any re-branded as Montgomery Ward.  I’ve amassed a nice collection, but I’m missing a few still.  Let me know if you can help a fella out🤞

For $13 its a buy it now, figure it out later kind of deal.  If it's scrap you could always part it out here to members and if it'll cook then let it cook.
Looking for: Red MBH 26"(The Aristocrat), Chestnut-coppertone (The Estate), Glen-blue (The Imperial), and The Plainsman.

Looks like a nice Weathered Warrior with the older plastic wheels with painted white walls. Might even have rubber treads.

Not too bad for $13, no date code on vent, the 3 vents on bowl seem stuck, a few nicks and dings, triangle seems pretty rusty. The interior of the bowl and lid are in awesome shape, the ash pan is twist on and good shape.

Very nice!!!   Looks like a ‘73, judging by the wheels, small bowl tabs, & patent number on the lid damper.

That’s a nice pickup. For $13 I’d definitely scoop it up.

That should be an easy fix using some stainless steel nuts, bolts, and fender washers. Check this video that @Troy made out for more information.
