WSM with only one bottom vent

My 'DR' has three vents on the bottom, what years had only one?

I'm pretty sure they've always had 3. My 1983 "E" has three.

This must be the lid then.  At first thought it was the bowl.

Yeah, they are probably showing how clean it is inside. The original 18.5" #2880 later re-partnumbered #2890 had wooden handles. The wood handle was changed to nylon in 2000 with the with model 2820. TVWBB has a great page on the history: http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/history.html
