First whole chicken
« on: May 28, 2018, 09:36:47 AM »
As title says this was my first chicken and a learning experience for me. Used my poortex and had it on for bout 1.75 hrs, temp in breast and thigh showing 165 F. To much charcoal and to much heat. Had a hard time keeping temp down. Temp ranged from  300 to 400. Used cherry wood chips. Was a fairly small bird.

Anything y'all see I did wrong and should change for next time?

Still had plenty of heat so tossed a lil sausage...

Only thing I think is that looks like a lot of fuel for one chicken...and thighs are what you check for doneness
