Multiple kettles and WSM's. I am not a collector, just a gatherer... and a sick bastard.

I have a homemade vortex and love cooking chicken with it. Simply the easiest way to cook drums, wings or thighs. One flip about halfway through the cook and no direct, perfect every time.

I love cooking food in a circle. I just wish aluminum foil came in precut round sheets with a large hole in the middle. And if it could be contoured so as to protect the sides that'd be awesome. And then if such rolls didn't cost 3X as much as regular aluminum foil that'd be nice. The build up of grease on the sides and bottom gets old.

Perhaps that's the appeal of a gas grill: Stuff you don't want to deal with just "disappears," like those old sweaters in the back of the closet.

I suppose, you are cutting the aluminium foil yourself (so do I, too). Just watch out that there are no flair ups when flipping the wings. It happened to me that the whole grease on the foil catched the fire and literally exploded I was really lucky to be standing next to the cooker and not having my face above it...

I don't use foil. I let the meat drip. So I have to clean the kettle now and then... I'm okay with that.

me too, and I keep the grill pretty dirty so the drippings hit the ash build up and the cleanup, if I clean it, is easier
Seeking a Black Sequoia I know I know, I'd settle for just the tabbed no leg grill

There are a few people here who have fashioned a DIY drip tray out of aluminum. It's on my list of projects as I hate cleaning chicken grease out of kettles.

This is all a byproduct of indirect cooking, of course. Them heathens who cook everything direct only have to worry abut ash.

My daily cooker has sweeps that don't seal well due to the build up. I went through a period last year where one sweep had so much under it that it would go past the burner tube.

I now regularly scrape down the sides and bottom with a plastic putty knife, but it's not really adequate. I need to remove the sweeps again and really get in there ... and bend them back, if I can. They're getting weak as a result.

When I use a disposable drip pan, it's mostly dry when I'm done. And so I think, why bother? But of course it builds up ... I may go back to using sheets of foil. I feel better about tossing them, rather than reusing drip pans (which I have done).

I'd like to try Adrenaline's SS drip pan but $70 leaves me cold.

Vortex makes good wings but so does a lot of other methods.

That's why you need a product like this!

Your byproduct ends up here.

So if you don't clean it often, the drip pan end up looking like so. I clean the drip pan probably after every 10 uses. To make cleaning easier, i just fill it halfway with ashes to act like a kitty litter.

And the bowl end up looking like this after 2 months of using it at least 3 times a week without any cleaning.  I just used a small broom before I took the photo.

Also you might want to use a stainless sweeps as they are a bit more stiff and much more sturdy. Btw, that sweep is probably more than 10 yrs old.

If you have to scrape the crud and other buildup on your bowl, you might want to get a wok spatula.  To avoid the possibility of scratching the bowl, i rounded off the outside edges and sanded it to a smooth finish. The front edge has a slight concave shape to it so it follows the contour of the bowl just like in a wok.

I am a religious user if HD Reynolds foil in my kettles.  Saves a huge amount of clean up time.
