Pork roast not pulled pork
« on: March 18, 2018, 06:58:57 AM »
Experimented with cooking a pork roast.  Used a basic rub of salt and brown sugar.  Cooked to about 175 to 180.  I did not want pulled pork but I wanted to slice it and serve with mashed potatoes and gravy.  Sorry no finishing picks cause it did not last long!  Totally different taste.  Almost like a ham.

Incredible color!!  Is that just pan drippings or were you basting it with a juice of some kind?

Yes basted with drippings which was some water and apple juice.

Hope yours turned out well. I let it cool for an hour so the juices would redistribute and then ice bathed it till it was cold and then sliced it. Served it the next day. The slices were super clean.

Pulled it around 175ish.  I did it this way so it could be sliced.
