Probably only so much they could cram into the internals.  Also it's not splash proof like the regular Thermapen Mk4.  There is an opening for the IR sensor so if you buy one keep it dry.

Does not have everything.  Not waterproof.


They are just waiting for you to buy one, then will come out with one with more features.

Correct. It has a lower rating for water permeability but the backlight is the dealbreaker for me.

I didn’t even realize it wasn’t backlit. Even more reason for me to go with the MarkIV.
