New old stock fire pit

Picked up our Christmas tree this morning from the local high school track team. We stopped into the local Ace hardware (been there a thousand times) to look for the limited edition red children's toy, for the boy for Christmas, and instantly noticed a new old stock Weber fire pit! I have been looking for one for the last year or so, so I couldn't believe my eyes! Marked down to $99 so I bought it instantly. Here are a couple quick pics.







Looking for a cover for this so if anyone has one and willing to part with it I'm  your man!

I'm not sure but my buddies got me the same model for my birthday, the wood handles give a clue that it's been a while since this model was produced.
I'm looking forward to putting it to use!


Some members recommend putting a grate in the bottom or sand to protect the finish

Lots of members that have these have suggested to put sand in the bottom to prevent the porcelain finish to crack from the extreme heat.


I saw this picture on pinterest which gave me the idea to line the bottom of mine with round rocks from the shore (we've got plenty of them around here).


I wouldn't fill the bowl like it is in this picture but rather line it.

I lit it up yesterday to provide a little heat while putting up Christmas lights. Got a little snow occasionally so I huddled around the fire to keep warm. I did the playground sand suggestion so time will tell how it stand up to the heat. So far I love this thing.
