Wow, so many good ideas already! How about a book or two for inspiration if dad is a reader.

"Slow Fire" by Ray Lampe is enjoyable had has some great photography. I also liked his "Big-Time Barbecue Cookbook."

"Smoke & Spice" and "Peace, Love and Barbecue" also come to mind.
