Custom grate straps -water pan lowered, third grate added
« on: January 14, 2018, 11:13:16 AM »
I haven't done many mods but I had a friend make me some grate straps for my 22 over a year ago. I lowered my water pan about 2 inches and added a third grate. This allows enough height for taller items like pork butts or a rib rack full of ribs on each of the 3 grates.
I know of quite a few that have added a third grate but has anyone else lowered the waste pan like this?
Anyone interested in a set of grate straps like this?
Jim

I'm interested,  does it use the existing mounting holes?

Could you use a piano hinge??
I did it ages ago on my stacker to have 7 levels of fun.
The next version simply had 4 levels and were notched out to lock the grate in

I'm sure you could use piano hinge. I'm just not sure how that would hold 30lbs of pork butt.
I do know my guy will make more of these. I think I paid 50 or 60 for my set. I know he will knock the price down if making a few of these.
