Better yet, what's underneath? Will have to wait until Sunday when I pick it up.
Not it's not my yellow. :(

Is there a tag on the inside?  When I was inquiring with Weber CS about how to register grill covers they said that when someone has a claim they usually have them take a picture of the problem as well as the tag on the inside of the cover as that has some kind of age identification.  If the identification is an actual date or a code, I don't know but try starting there.

It's a caddywampus I scored today. It was only cooked on 2 or 3 times.

Only been cooked on 3 times and they got a gasser and in the garage it has stayed for 13 years under the cover.

I can only assume that since it was in the garage and they were of the persuasion that get a bad rap for driving. it was hit while in there.

Handle bent

What the hell happened here

Not quite sure about the cooking grate either. See if I can fix the grate as it will put bowl out of round.

But the porcelain is beautiful. Not a bad find. NO RUST. I haven't cleaned it yet.
No razor blade needed. Steel wool and Dawn.

20 minutes with Dawn and 0000 steel wool and she looks new.
Wheels and triangle are like new. Just need a leg for it.

What is the old song?  "It's Not Easy Being Green,". Unless your name is @CatskillSmoker!  Another nice green!  You're on a roll with these man!  Keep it up!

Bet the grate was hanging, then it got hit by a car crushing the leg bending the grate then fell on the handle

Anybody here ever bend a cook grate back into shape?
Any suggestions or wisdom appreciated.

I came across a bent grate like that on a kettle I picked up for free.  It was bent bad enough that it would no longer fit inside the kettle.  I set it on the ground with the bent part facing upwards (That would be the pointed part on your grate). Then I hit it repeatedly with a heavy hammer. I used a 2 lb ball peen hammer.  Eventually it forced the outward bent section back in, reforming it back into a circular shape.  Probably won't be perfect but you will be able to get it to be more rounded.
