Well played [emoji106].

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of the cb door.

Great cook. I'll have to try corn in the smoker. I love the Cajun bandit door. My first cook ran hot because I started too many briquettes. I use much less charcoal on my cooks now.

I just got a CB door for my 18.5 and it totally sealed up the door.  I know some will argue it doesn't make a difference, but all I know is that it can't hurt anything, it can only help.

I know that the CB door is a big deal for the 22" WSM. Is it as much of a difference maker for the 18”?

If it’s not broke don’t fix it. I got my 18 second hand and it wouldn’t shut down or maintain temp well. The new door and latch solved those problems for me and was a great investment.

I had one and didn't think it was all that. It looks cool and is well made.

Nice that you got a good fit out of the box. My CB door leaked about half as much as the stock door. After some tweaking to the door and barrel, i actually did get a decent fit.

Doing it over again, I would get the gasket over the door.

I still had a small insignificant smoke leak with the cb door out of the box but my stock door had a huge gaping leak that caused problems cooking.  The Cajun bandit door solved the problems I had.

It’s a grill not a submarine. Tiny wisps of smoke here and there are completely fine but a flimsy thin door that will not hold its shape with an equally crappy latch didn’t cut it for me.

This is the truth.  I see a lot of posts about gaskets and guys trying to get every leak and make kettles and WSMs air tight.  I don't think you'd want a cooker air tight.  If you want the most precise temp control, use the oven.  I highly doubt you'd notice any difference in pulled pork smoked at 250 vs 260.  I personally cook with a temp range in mind, not a set temp.  This takes the worry out of cooking and I still get great results.
Looking for: Red MBH 26"(The Aristocrat), Chestnut-coppertone (The Estate), Glen-blue (The Imperial), and The Plainsman.

I was super excited to use my brand new CB door and gateway hanger.  And then I tried Rub’s BBQ and lost all motivation to even try.

True story.
