I wasn't sure whether to restore or just oil it up, but I'm glad I did and really enjoyed the process, as this is the first Sequoia seen on Aussie soil I like to think Ross Mcdonald put this together in someone's backyard back in 1980 and showed them how to use a kettle
There're was a few questions I had when doing the resto
First - What year did the Sequoias stop coming with the two rings on the side of the table? I noticed there were holes pre drilled at either end of the table in the same location to accommodate the lid holder. But not for the rings . The rings are visible in the 74 catalogue but not the 79 catalogue
Second- Was their a change in stain or timber on the Sequoias at some stage? I noticed in the catalogue it describes the timber as Heirloom Redwood stained timber,I thought these were two different types of timber. This is a pic out of the 1971 catalogue
Looks like they were available in two different finishes too
