another grandma's house adventure
« on: July 19, 2017, 04:28:26 PM »
so I go over to my grandma's house from time to time to help her do odd jobs and "shop" out of her house. she's a food hoarder. my grandpa has been retired since 86 and most of the 90s his past time was QVC. so the house always had random stuff. so today I go over to help clean out the shed. like usual I find a bunch of cool random stuff. my grandpa is 93 years old so if I show any sort of interest in anything my grandma's like take it he's not gonna use it. so today this is what I found

a generic styled water smoker by meco

and this crazy thing, the red devil portable gas kitchen

was brand new in box sitting in a wheel barrel , since 1998. it was marketed as the do it all grill . came with a standard cooking grate , a griddle, a 8 inch steam rack and a steam dome. and it all fits in it's own carry case.

just thought it was a cool piece of grill history and gimmicks of the 90s

I remember when those were new;  1998 was at least the second, if not the third go round for them as my dad had a friend who owned a catalog warehouse in Chicago and he donated 3 of them when I was a Cub/Boy Scout in the early/mid '80s.

My parents had one of those!  Just recently I asked where it was and sadly they had gotten rid of it awhile back.

I don't remember. I think I was 20 at the time and I only remember them using it one time on a picnic. I remember it was my moms idea to buy it but my dad hated it. But he hates everything besides a normal 22" weber grill lol
