Hang on. I have a green kettle. Green is between yellow and blue on the rainbow. Does that mean my kettle is worth right in between the value of the two kettles, $776.25? That's how it works, right?

No, you have to use the pigment method, where you add blue and yellow to get green. So your green kettle is worth $1,552.50.

What's the confusion? Some grills are worth money.

"Back in my day we could buy a yellow kettle for $25. And it would have been on CL for weeks already."

"Hi do you still have that old yellow grill for sale?"
"Sorry, finally set it to the curb 2 weeks ago"

I think it's more confusing to explain how these obscure pieces of Americana went from being uncollectable to having real value in only a few years time. A noob is more likely to accept the status quo as-is whereas OG's will lament the changes to the hobby over the years.

oh totally
I've learned that change is inevitable.
