Grate Advice for Genesis 1000
« on: June 12, 2017, 08:26:13 AM »
I am finishing up my restoration project and looking for a good set of grates. I just purchased some new aftermarket stainless steel flavorizer bars and was thinking of going with SS for the grates as well. I just wanted to see what everyone recommends. I don't want to spend a fortune on them though. Hit me with your thoughts.

The GBS system grates for gassers are excellent quality. I believe the part # is 7586 or 7587 for the set that fits the Gennie 1000.

Agree, the 7586 Grates are a perfect fit.

Pic shows a Genesis Platinum, but since it uses the deep firebox (13 flavorizer bars), I think it should be the same as the 1000

Thanks for the recommendation. I have read where other grillers can tend to get frustrated by the circle grate in the middle. Do either of you find that it comes loose when flipping meat that is resting on or around it?

I only have the GBS for the kettle, and I have had no problems with it coming loose while in use.

Very clean looking grill @Gartenzwerg ... is that yours? You should post up some pics of it.....

The ss Insert sits very good, haven't had any problem with that.
The holes on the cast iron sear grate insert are a bit too big for my liking, small things tend to fall through.
But both inserts never came loose.

Well I'll be damned.  I could have sworn that the GBS grates didn't fit older models.   Hmmm, might have to look into one of them.

Rey, if this is a "forever grill" for you and you decide you don't want to go the GBS route, take a look at the SS rod grates that RCPlanebuyer sells on Ebay.   A bit pricey, but they are awesome and you'll never have to replace them.

Thanks guys. I went ahead and bought the GBS. Waiting on a couple more parts and then I'll post some pics. I'm excited to get this thing fired up.
