Somehow they seem appropriate given our weather. We've been here since '87 and this is the highest I've ever seen the creek that is a couple houses down.
Several days ago I needed to defrost our freezer. I found a couple of ducks and stuck them in the refrigerator to thaw. I marinated them using
Raichlen's recipe and put them on my '74 18.5 kettle. I chose the kettle (my first) since it has been too long since I fired it up and I like the fine grained control I get from the daisy wheel dampers. I used one charcoal basket with Royal Oak briquettes and some apple and cherry for smoking wood (along with the tea smoking mix.) I had some asparagus so I rafted it up to grill while the duck finished.
