Aldi Meat/non-Meat
« on: February 20, 2017, 05:18:53 PM »
Usually do our shopping at Aldi. Anyone have any luck with their meats?

For tonight's cook some frozen vegi burgers.

Using my tried and trusted platinum performer.

Finished product. Quarter of a chimey and grilled full blast for 5 minutes on each side frozen.

And the plating.

Wife's says its good. Doesn't taste like meat but says she would eat it again. She likes it.

I'm sitting here posting this downing a few beers and trying to build the courage to put that in my mouth.

Guess that's my point of the post. Not sure I got this in the right forum or not since it was a cook and all but I'm scared of Aldi meat. Usually that's the only place we shop so I'm just wondering how many of you shop there and if you have any Aldi hacks for grilling per say.

Aldi just opened near me. It's a strange store. Brands that I am not familiar with. I was very happy with their produce and I bought a really cheap boneless pork shoulder. Meat close to use by date was crazy cheap. Frozen veggies were decent.

I love aldi. We have been going there for years.  We like some of their stuff better than any stores and some stuff not as well.

Most of their meats are good. We buy pork chops and chicken breasts there but don't like the steak. The fresh produce and veggies are great. Their canned items not so much. The breads and buns are good. Their frozen cheese ravioli is the best ever (maybe too specific) [emoji3]. Overall I really like aldi.

Not sure I could down a veggie burger from any store [emoji23]

They also always seem to have fresh jalapeņo. A lot of other stores around me run out frequently.

They are grate for loading up the grocery cart. Family of 4 every 2 or 3 weeks or so we send about $140 each time. Couldn't get out that cheap no where else. I've just had a hard time finding stuff to grill there. Usually have to go to Albertsons on a second trip just for meat.

Yep. That's how you do it. Fill up at aldi first then go get whatever is missing somewhere else. It's not one stop shop but definitely worth doing the bulk of the shopping at

+1 on all that.
Alot of things we prefer from there.
Schnitzel and country fried steaks are killer there too. German desserts 🍰😋

I'm a fan of the store. Produce is extra cheap and good. Only meat I've had is the pork loin and it's good and not pricey at all. There's another store like Aldi opening up close by called Lidl. I'm heading to Aldi today to grab some produce for the wife's ninja and will be checking out the meats for dinner. If anything good turns up I'll post some pics.
