Red kettle virus
« on: April 05, 2013, 02:09:25 PM »
I really had no desire or need for a red kettle, but after joining this site and seeing all the pics I think I have to get one.

That red does get stuck in your head.  Weber still uses the red kettle in their logo, even though they haven't made one in 13 years.

I've been bit by the red kettle bug so bad that it has affected my lovely bride!! The first thing she does every morning is sweep CL for one!!

It is definitely contagious!!

Yep, I've got a post called 'At Last' where I show mine that I got in a trade with Marty G . If you can't find one in your area try working a trade or buying one from one of the guys here who live where there are more of them. I think about how glad I am that I found the WKC every time I see that beauty in my backyard.

I had the opportunity to get a red SS performer a couple of years ago while visiting friends up in NY - could have got for nearly nothing since it was a little rough (missing a wheel, etc). But, the bowl was in good condition. Unfortunately, our transportation at the time would have been tough on the ride back to NJ (MDX with wife, son, and golden retriever). Now , that isn't an issue with my newly acquired ride.

It is serious now, he got the right tool for the job.  I bet you will have a red Preformer before the spring is over..

My love for redheads started with my grandparents 18.5'er when I was a kid. They're still my favorite color kettles but I love other colors now too..blue, avocado, brown, got a black now. It's incurable.

My first used kettle was a red OT+ for 10 bucks-- total dumb luck, and I found out later how lucky I was.  Now I'm definitely infected.

It is funny that it is such an iconic color (used on all the restaurants, at the factory, in all kinds of literature) but Weber doesn't make it anymore.  Which makes it all the more thrilling to find one.
One of the charcoal people.
