Lid bail modification

Does anybody know of a modification to allow the lid to rest further back? I am not a fan of how much the lid tilts over the grill on the perfomer.

I haven't done any work to see how well this would work, but I think a bail wire that was a few inches longer would be the ticket. It would allow the lid to tilt farther back. Also, if the stainless steel strap thing was a few inches longer would be perfect.
