Jumbo Joe Build - Bear Style
« on: July 23, 2016, 10:02:03 PM »
I've wanted a Jumbo Joe for a while now, but not been able to find one as they're not that common down under.

Inspired by some of the following  threads, I decided to build my own:

I cut the leg sockets off with an angle grinder.

Thermometer was installed to cover up a large chip in the lid.

Big thanks to @Hogsy and @Golly for their contributions to this project.

Thanks also to @zavod44 for the Canarywood handles, they finish this off nicely.

Awesome!  Did you get the lid bale from a donor or from weber?  Can you still slide aside the lid or do the handles get in the way?

My guess is "no." The vertical part of the bale isn't there, either. Just the swing handle. He'd have to have installed in 90 degrees from the handles for the bale system to work.
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

Hmm, I have a spare red one touch 18" and no jumbo Joe of any color. Might have to think about this. Beautifully done!

Correct, except that the 90° install wouldn't have worked without removing the handles
