I took off the existing mount, countersunk some new stainless steel screws in the middle, put an acorn nut on the new screw

Very nice.  I was going to use some of those "L" brackets from the Big Box, but your approach is much cleaner ! !

What does this mean?
It's the iconic symbol for the backyard. It's family/friends, food and fun. What more do you need to feel everything [is] going to be all right. As long as we can still have a BBQ in our backyard, the world seems a bit of a better place. At least for that moment. -reillyranch

He breaks out the other 22 inch kettle.

For me, if the need arises for me now, I will be smoking on the kettles(2-22's) and the both of the New To Me, WSM 18 racks...

Bring on the MEAT!!!

Lets just say I have acquired a few Kettles.  Big and small.   Vintage and New...  Some say I have a problem.  I find the Kettle, buy the Kettle, USE the Kettle...No problem...

I use the bottom rack (without the top rack) when cooking chickens, turkey breast, or a whole turkey using vertical roasting racks. Otherwise the bottom rack sits on a shelf in the garage. The top rack will hold two butts, which is the most I ever cook at one time.
