Non gas SSP
« on: August 31, 2017, 06:37:11 PM »
I have been on the hunt for a SSP all summer.
Picking this up tomorrow. Thermometer seems to be missing. Is there a special attachment I would need to replace it?

Here's a slightly nicer one, not sure if worth the price.  A year ago, it was $21. I think the Tel-tru are considered some of the best bi-metal thermos.

Thanks all.

It is a 1997 according to the code. The cleaning system seems to be stuck so I guess my first order of business is getting it upgraded to the newer "H" drive one touch.

@Foundry37 ,  yes,  but the old ash sweeps also worked with a bracket/bar on the exterior of the bottom of the bowl, which supported the ash bucket.  so, you should do a search here and see how people handled going to the new ash sweep and supporting the ash bucket.

my performer is 2002, and already utilized the h-clip ash sweep.  so, i am of no use on that.

If the ash sweeps are stuck but not rotted or broken, try cleaning the gunk out of the bowl as best you can, then get a good and hot fire going in there.  Folks have had pretty good success getting them to loosen up that way.  With Kingsford 2 bags for 9.99 this weekend,  it won't cost you very much to give it a shot.

Upon further inspection I will definitely be getting a whole new unit.  Cleaning blades are snapped off.
