Restore old Grey Kettle

You guys know your stuff... After reading the forum all weekend I have learned that the Mottled Grey kettle that was given to me
is really Black.. So How can I get it back to the Original finish.. I read about PAM and heat but I think it is too far gone.
 I was going to disassemble and paint it Yellow..But I rather Respect and Restore...
I can't stop lovin my Weber!!!

I think the faded grey looks cool. I would just clean it up and start cooking on it.

It's your choice on leaving it grey or you can spray Pam and heat it up.  I have an 1980 faded black and have gone back and forth on Pamming it and ultimately i have left it as is.
Wanted: 18" Platinum any color will work
This is my Kettle there are many like it but this one is mine......

Like @1911Ron , I have a 1980 I recently acquired that is evenly mottled.  I dig the fade, gives a bit more character.  But ultimately, it's your grill, do with it as you see fit.

The kettle.  It shows wear but I like to call it character !!

I love the look of the old black, faded to gray.  I actually don't think it's fading from the sun, I think they must just lose the pigment or something.  THe heat, something makes the whole thing turn gray.....

That would explain why it is so evenly faded as opposed to if it were caused by the sun only the top and sides would be faded
