Glad I could help, after much thought on plated or SS I might switch all my grates to SS. What are the health risks if any when that plating starts coming off. Price be damned.

I really don't like the gourmet system grate that came on my new performer. The center falls out and the hinged parts are hard to open and close compared to my regular hinged grates. I bought a 22" stainless steel hinged grate for it on ebay a few months ago. It's made by grill care?? can't remember if that's right. It was under 40 bucks with the shipping.

Call me crazy but I've always liked the thinner grates. More surface area to get exposed for a good sear. I've never understood the whole cast iron grill mark thing. I'd rather have a nice crust over the entire surface than just on a few grill marks.
