Perfromer SS Question
« on: July 07, 2015, 10:05:37 AM »
I am talking to a guy about a Performer SS and noticed in the pic that the lid handle was different.  He confirmed that he replaced it with something else.  How hard would it be for me to get it back to stock? Trying to figure out if its worth the drive and the money.

Could you post a picture? Then I'm sure we could get you a concrete answer.

I don't have a great picture. He swapped the Weber handle with built in thermometer for what looks like a drawer handle. Can I get my hands on a replacement handle for it?

Weber would have replacement parts. What color is it? Others might have a spare to sell you..

I'm new to this but look underneath the frame. What does the rust look like?  You can get a handle for the cover.  I am new to this but just restored a 20 yr old Performer this week. Not many surprises but a few .

Weber handles are interchangeable, get ya a beater, any size that has a good handle and replace it.  Better yet, order up a WKC wooden handle for it!

If you want it to be perfectly stock, I'm sure someone around here can find one laying around in their shop.  Or like @truckertrash said, you'll probably be much happier with a real wood handle.... and there is even a version of wood for the smaller handle on the table.

@kevinsmith812 do you mean that the whole handle, not just the wood is gone and been replaced by a drawer pull? Like it's been screwed into the lid? That can be replaced too.

Yeah @Saugust they guy took the entire handle off and replaced it with a drawer pull.  Obviously not a purest!

Haha! Guess not! Are there rust holes in the lid? If you order a new handle from Weber you can use SS fender washers and it should work.
