Very nice pick up - she cleaned up fantastic , hope your not going over to the dark side

Never!... this grill would definitely fall under the "Accessory" classification ;)

What is the material on the side tables?  Porcelain?

It looks like porcelain but doesn't feel like it... that prob doesn't make much sense but it has a different texture than say a kettle. I ended up spraying some stainless steel cleaner on it and it at least hides it quite well:

ooo sweet, I WANT one of those. Great find. I think this is the half griddle for that age of gassers. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00008W71S/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=13FWTNECYTPHO&coliid=I1ZQ0KEIOWGDB8

Hey Matt, There is a glossy weber cook book that came with that model, let me know if you want a copy and I'll see what I can do.
I'm only 2 or 3 kettles away from being that creepy guy down the street with all the Webers

this seemingly goes against some of what the original kettle was designed to do, protect your food from the elements while cooking.

i'm not bashing this in any way, i'm just pointing out what should be obvious to us.  this is the weber that breaks some of weber's own rules and for that, it's really cool!

one motivation it doesn't break, is that it was meant to create a meal and bring the family together.

i think it's extremely cool, i bet the sides are meant to take some serious heat as they are also the cover.

congrats and great job on the clean up!
I only use kettles with lid bales.

No offence taken ;) This was essentially designed for grilling steaks, burgers and veggies - any roasting, baking or BBQ and you'd want to bring out the old kettle for sure!

I had no idea these unique little things even existed until it popped up on CL.

I just picked up the one that Golly had at his place, and I'm working on getting a bigger one to clean up and donate the both of them to my kids school. Each time I see the grill they are using, it sends shivers up my spine.

Any way...has anyone been able to find a schematic for this unit? I've done a quick search but can't find anything.

I have picked up a second unit, the 6000, and have started stripping and cleaning both. I have to say, I cooked a hanger steak on it just because I could, and it was superb.

Has anyone tried to get parts through ereplacement?  The lid glide that I'm missing on one of them is not available from Weber Oz.
