The lid was smooshed in pretty hard and the handle was bent.

i touched up the chips with duplicolor hi heat (1200)

replaced the one touch blades, upgraded to OTG ash catcher, and added a weber bezeled thermo.

I sanded and put shellac on two of 'the one the only' handles and replaced the top handle with a sweet zavod handle.

here are some before pics.

The inside cleaned up with a single application of easy off and a quick scrape with an old hard drive platter.

The hardest thing about this kettle was getting the legs out (and then getting the legs back in)

This kettle was a foster restoration for a new local friend. It will be his first charcoal grill.

and yes, i know, my grass is brown.
i hear 10 commercials about the extreme socal drought every day, so i've been turning off my sprinklers.
Every wednesday my gardner turns them back on, but I don't speak enough spanish to tell him not to.

I like it, the new owner should be thrilled! Let us know how well the paint holds up please.

Certainly.

Here's a closer shot of the match after I did a 2 hour 250 degree cure.

Norcal is in a drought too.. Lawns are dying everywhere.. Your gardener si protecting hsi career!

Why have gardeners if theres no lawns to cut?  Lawnmowers will be free everywhere!
Its gonna get worse before it gets better. We sure can use a wet winter..

that handle has been sitting in my war chest for more than a year!!
I have been saving it for my next special grill - but that grill hasn't came along yet :(

Nice work saving that one Troy.  It looks very presentable now.  I hope your friend plans a great cook to break it in right!

Those are some of the best kind.   Well done.
