Weber Genesis - cutting new wood slats

Working on restoring a Genesis 2200, it has seen better days. Used a planer to match the wood to the same thickness of the durawood. Going to stain them in a rich maple color. Ordered all new internals and waiting on those. Can't wait to bring this grill back to new!

The above article is great.  However, I have one issue with:

Move the emblem in a circular motion to remove paint.


I received excellent advice from @SixZeroFour regarding this.
He stated to have a straight-edge on the sandpaper, and run the emblem along that to achieve straight lines.
I personally preferred that look, but whatever you choose, it is rather straight-forward to do. 


I did the same for my Genesis Jr restore last spring.
Not exactly a close-up pic, but a huge improvement from what it looked like when I rescued it.

Jr restore and badge looks great! Some of us on TVWBB have taken up an idea I borrowed from a grill restoration I saw on CL. We are painting the kettle in the badge red. I even did one where I painted the outline and “Weber” in white to match the actual Weber logo:
