The MT is cleaning up nicely.  After 1.5 cans of oven cleaner, the bowl and lid are clean.  I also got the triangle and legs cleaned up.  Also sanded the handles and stained them a dark mahogany...mainly because I had it on hand but also because it seems everyone usually goes with lighter handles and I wanted something different.  I still need to do some work on the ash catcher assembly.  My 7409 cleaning kit is on the way so I'll be cooking soon!

Is there a source for the cross bar that supports the ash catcher ring?  Mine is pretty rough and I think I'd like to replace it.  More pics to come...

Dang 1.5 cans of oven cleaner? I can usually get 5 kettles or so from one can. I let my scraper do more of the work to displace the stuck gunk.

The ashbars are available here: http://weberkettleclub.com/forums/weber-kettles-accessories/okay-who-is-really-interested-one-one-of-these/

My 7409 ash sweeps arrived today thanks to dwnthehatch sending them all the way from MD.  Unfortunately my ash support bar was too rusty and not up to the task of supporting the ring and bucket.  Not to fear, I scavenged parts from my black OTG! I swapped the H style ash sweeps from it and used hose clamps to attach the MT ash ring.  This will be a temporary solution until Brian puts out another batch of the support bars.  I'll put it back to original configuration when I'm able to get the new bar.

Here's how it looks now...

And I forgot the guy threw this in with purchase...

Looks fantastic Toddmog!  I love the dark stained handles on the red MT. My MT has Brian's white oak handles with a light stain.
