Hey guys, I updated how I did this in this add gas assist mod to weber kettle article. I will upload the template for the holes sooner or later. If you have any questions, please ask.

Good stuff. Thanks for taking the time. I had been considering adding a tube to my daily cooker OTP, but didn't have a performer bowl to take measurements off of.......until last weekend.  Now I have two, but would much rather cheat and use your template once it gets uploaded  ;D

Would really like to see a pic of the whole grill. I picture the propane just sitting on the ground next to it.

I've always thought this project but into a smokey joe would make the ultimate portable charcoal starter.

Great work!

James, there's nothing interesting to see unfortunately. I added the OTP bowl to a 2010 performer. I did a colored kettle swap. A SJ ga would be interesting. I would use a gas go anywhere regulator and pop that onto the performer tube. It has the propane fitting, valve, and tube hookup all in one.

When I did the same thing on Mesa Azul, I started with a step drill and then I filed the opening bigger to fit...YOu just need to mark the location.  It's easier if you already have a bowl with a hole in it....
