For the Brussel sprout lovers
« on: January 23, 2018, 03:37:45 AM »
Came across a recipe the other day and initially thought it was crazy. More I thought about it , the more it started to make sense and I made it last night. Wow , is all I can say ! Did some Prime NY strips to go with them. You get the earthy veggie taste , tangy from the glaze , sweet from the grapes,  and salty from the bacon. Unbelievable depth of flavors and paired well with a steak. We ate 2 helpings of the sprouts before we were halfway through the steaks. Take 1 lb of sprouts and 1-2 lb of seedless red grapes ( cut in half ) mixed with cooked bacon pieces , olive oil , and SPG . Roast like you normally would and top with the glaze after plating. The glaze is 8 oz of balsamic vinegar and 1 tbsp of honey reduced down. Bring to a boil then simmer for 30-45 minutes. When the back of spoon gets coated , let cool and it will thicken up to a syrup. If you love roasted sprouts you need to try this for sure.

Looks like a great combo! Do you boil your brussel sprouts before throwing on the grill? Some recipes say to do this, but I wasn't sure if its necessary. I am going to give this a shot this week for sure!

I always microwave mine in a bowl filled with water for 4-5 minutes. Drain then coat with olive oil and my seasoning. Roast in pan till there a little soft. I like mine more crunchy than mush. Longer you cook them the softer they get. If I had to guess I had these on the grill for 8 minutes and stirring frequently

My wife says she doesn't like sprouts and I can't remember the last time i've tried any myself.  The balsamic paired with the other ingredients sounds very flavorful.  I'll have to surprise here with these and see what she thinks.  I know I would like and i have a feeling she will like it too.  Thanks for sharing, it looks incredible.
