First ever tri tip

The wife absolutely loved it and she's usually one of my toughest customers. I got a pre-seasoned one from sams which seems to be the only way I can get it around here. We both agreed we would like it better unseasoned and ready for our own seasoning. I'll check a couple butchers now that it's a beloved item. Only took a couple bad pictures but it was a great first run. Cherry was the smoke on a mix of lump and briqs.

The last picture is all that was left out of 3.5 pounds. I should have taken a pre slice picture.

Gotta love tri tips. Wonder why it's not a hit here in the Midwest

Only place I ever found them was at Aldis and they quit carrying them.

Thanks dave. I found them at a local butcher in their natural unseasoned state so I'm anxious to get some more and experiment.

@HoosierKettle
I actually found some tri-tip at Hamptons Market at Smithvalley and Morgantown Road in the Center Grove. Pretty reasonable price too if I remember.
