Maple Bacon Pork Chops
« on: August 11, 2016, 03:43:01 PM »
I just recently picked up this seasoning, and this is my first try with it on pork.

I have become a big fan of the pork rib chops that can he had at my local Costco.  Usually just over $3 per pound.

I have also become a big fan of cooking them indirect for about 40-60 minutes (depending on thickness), then finish direct.

A light coating of EVOO, the above seasoning, plus some fresh ground salt and fresh cracked pepper.
Total weight for these two were about 20 ounces.  On they go after a 20 minute pre-heat ….
Used some apple wood for smoke.  The intakes were open just a crack at this point.

The kettle of choice for these was my trusty 18" OTG.  It's pretty much my workhorse for most small to medium cooks.

After 50 minutes, I put on some fresh green and yellow beans.  Also, opened the intakes wide.
Prepared a salad using some more fresh stuff …. My wife would be proud.  :) ;)  It was a bachelor night, after all.  :D

After 60 minutes, I put the chops on the direct side for 5 minutes per side.  Then rested for 10 minutes.

I am not a big BBQ sauce guy when it comes to chops and steaks, and these were no exception.  The flavour was fantastic all on its own !!

Thanks for looking.  :D :D
Q: How do you know something is bull$h!t?
A: When you are not allowed to question it.
