Bought in 2017 for $6 on clearance at Lowe's because it was dented.  Both rivets were replaced with nuts and bolts.   It lived a long, productive life.   Probably a 1000 + cooks. Bottom wire wouldn't stay in.
I almost played taps.

That's a lot of fires and a lot of food prepared from them. RIP. Well done.

Save that handle !

I swapped my old handle to my new chimney when the old one finally rotted away enough that it was unsafe to use. It lives on.

I use the older (early 2000s) off white glass reenforced nylon handles on all of my chimneys.  The new plastic handles retain to much heat when used on a chimney.

Same here. I have a ton of them. A few unused. You can't kill them.

I've never actually bought a full-size one.  Used to used whatever off-brand was cheap & never realized what a waste of money they are, until I kept getting free ones when I purchased used kettles. If memory serves, I did spring for one of the mini ones at the Weber Factory Store during one of my trips over there when it was still open.

@michaelmilitello Do you ever head up to the O'hare area? If you do, I'm sure I can scrounge up a FREE used one in good shape for you and probably even an 18 grate if you still need one.
regards,
Hal
