Fried Taters and BBQ Chicken
« on: March 08, 2016, 02:26:07 PM »
So I fired up the SnS got it nice and hot then on went the trusty Griswold #8 for fried potatoes:

Then threw on the boneless skinless chicken breasts.  Smoked 'em for a few minutes on the indirect side and then over for a sear and sauce:

A little yellow squash to round things out.

Turned out very good.  I think next time I'm cooking with the Griswold I'll just make a pile of coals in the middle or move the SnS to the middle.  It was awkward having to cook right up against the side of the kettle.

Looks good! Jealous of your Griswold.

Charcoal baskets work well for cast iron cooking, you can move them just off the side and get nice even heat across the whole bottom of the pan.

Austin, yup gonna center the SnS next time.  Wife got me the Griswold before we were married (16 years ago).  One of the reasons she married me was because I could cook, guess she was making an investment :-)

Having fun with this Kettle.  The chicken was a big hit with the two boys and the wife.
