I'm in the market for a second one, my current food saver is still working, in Doraville LOL, but would like something more along that design.

That sounds really good Anthony.  It's been ages since we did hasselback potatoes.  I remember buying a special cutter to make them.  Gotta dig that out!  Enjoy your leftovers sir.

Cheers

Charcoal Grilling & BBQ / Weekend Cooks on the Summit

Did a couple of easy cooks this weekend.  I had hopes of cooking a chuck roast low and slow with a braised finish, but it was just too windy and we had a lot of errands and family stuff to do.  We did cod filets and sea scallops on a soapstone and brats with sauerkraut.  Oh, also Kellee got the garden planted.  Peppers and tomatoes in our future which makes us happy..... Enjoyed a nice sunset with Beaux last night as well......

Cheers!

After our Food Saver quit on us I decided to do some research and look for a better method.  The Food Saver did work well for what it was until it gave up.  We liked it but wanted something a little more dependable.  I found the Vevor line which is of course a Chinese knock - off but the price was doable and I read some good reviews and found real life demo videos on youtube from people who owned them and liked them.

I chose the DZ-260A which is size wise the middle of their line with a strong vacuum pump worthy of a much larger model.  It is heavy (54lbs) and is in a more permanent position in our laundry room so we don't have to drag it our like we did our Food Saver.  I also ordered an assortment of chamber vac seal bags from Amazon that work well so far.  We've sealed a few things - made ice bags with water, pulled pork packs and did chicken legs this past weekend.  Wish I could upload videos here - not sure we can.  It's fun to watch the vacuum dial and the sealing process.  Time will tell, but so far we like it and would recommend it.  We're in about $250 for the unit, $33 for the bag assortment and I opted for synthetic oil for the vacuum pump which was about $12.

Cheers!

I never heard of a Manturion Griddle, so of course I had to Google it.  I came across this earlier WKC forum post -

What a interesting accessory.  It seems like that would be a unicorn find.  I would love to have something like that.  So functional!

Quote from: GrilledMeat on April 19, 2025, 05:17:14 AMNice Cook Greg! I am in the midst of an early Genesis Restoration right now with hopes to utilize the grill just as you are doing as it's primary purpose. I have heard rave reviews from others regarding the quality/ results of the roti in conjunction with the early Genesis models. Thanks for sharing!

You will love it..... chicken is very moist and tender with this method.  I did discover that this type of rotisserie basket has a removable rod and handle on each end - reverse threaded though.  Removing them allows all parts to fit in the dishwasher much easier.
