Thanks!  No, he can't have the sauce and he eats roasted chicken I make for him all the time... As I recall, Kellee made him 3 sirloin steaks in a cast iron skillet for a few meals.  He does not go hungry!

Welcome to the Forum Trev.  The WKC nickname for that specific model grill is "Platypus". I don't recall what member came up with the moniker but it has been floating around here for a very long time.

Welcome from Huntsville, AL!  Nice find there... You might check out Tom Horsman on YouTube - he's got one just like this and fixed it up nicely.  If you go to his channel just search "Platinum" and you'll find videos of his cooks on it.

Have fun!

Welcome from Eastern Iowa. You found a pretty grill. Not all that common and that one looks to be in good condition. Watch out for Weberitis - you will end up with many more Weber kettles and enjoy them all. Have fun!

Ahh. Thank you. When adding your "low n slow" to my google search I found it. Called a Smokenator.

Welcome! That's a nice One Touch Platinum Weber with side tables. They only made those for a couple years and are getting harder to find. That looks like a third party accessory for low n slow cooking but I can't be sure. Picture is a little hard to see with the shadow.

Weber Kettle Forum / I got a question?

First of all, I'm new here. Found this forum yesterday and now, all of a sudden, I'm getting stoked about stupid looking (or what I thought were) grills you see on movie sets from the 60's & 70's. Anyways, breath of fresh air in the current landscape to see a bunch of people chasing a niche lighthearted hobby.
Alright, meat and potatoes. Found this grill yesterday for $100 bucks. Not sure if that's a horrible deal but I wanted it. It appears to be a 2009 by the DE date code. Basically perfect shape. My question is, what is the basket under the grate? Doesn't look like any charcoal basket I've seen online and appears to be some sort of water bath.

Quote from: Tommie on July 29, 2026, 08:47:18 PMI would recommend contacting Brian oneall for some wooden handless. The "cherry" Amazon ones are just ok, but not the correct shape and the finish on them comes off very easily. Also the screws rust very quickly but Brian uses stainless

A link to some of his stuff, a lot of us on here have used him many times

I have seen his stuff and it looks great.  Thanks for the info.
No worries. If you're anything like me, you'd start with the cherry ones then end up getting Brian's anyway. Better to buy once, cry once as they say!
